Upa Lokayukta Books Kolar Health Officials Over Lapses at PHC

Kolar, July 12, 2026: Karnataka Upa Lokayukta B. Veerappa has registered a suo motu case against the medical officer and other health officials of the Nambihalli Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Srinivaspur taluk over alleged dereliction of duty and inadequate healthcare services.

The case has been registered against Medical Officer Dr G. Sunita, pharmacist M. Lakshmidevamma, the Taluk Health Officer and the District Health Officer following complaints from villagers about the lack of basic amenities and deficiencies in services at the PHC.

The Upa Lokayukta has directed the officials to file their objections on August 27.

Acting on complaints received from villagers, the Upa Lokayukta had on July 2 directed Lokayukta Deputy Superintendent of Police Sunil Kumar to inspect the facility and submit a report. The inspection was conducted the following day.

According to the DySP’s report, the outpatient (OPD) register did not contain proper records of patient admissions. The report also noted poor hygiene at the hospital and a shortage of essential medicines, including tincture and other basic drugs.

The report further stated that, according to villagers, the medical officer visits the PHC only three days a week, affecting the availability of healthcare services in the area.
