Mumbai, July 07, 2025: The Russia-Ukraine war and Iran-Israel conflict are pushing the world towards the third World War, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said expressing concern over "authoritarianism and dictatorship" of the global superpowers.
“There is an atmosphere of conflict going on across the world amid the war between Israel and Iran as well as Russia and Ukraine. The situation is such that it could push the world into another World War anytime,” said Gadkari, a senior BJP leader.
A veteran politician, Gadkari said that coordination, harmony and love are vanishing due to the "authoritarianism and dictatorship of superpowers". Hailing India as the land of the Lord Gautam Buddha giving the message of truth, non-violence and peace to the world, Gadkari emphasised the need to ascertain a future policy after reviewing and deliberating on the current global situation.
"The technological advancements pertaining to war are also making it tougher to protect humanity,” he said speaking at the launch of the book ’Beyond Borders’, in Nagpur, on Sunday. The dimensions of warfare have changed due to advanced technology, with increasing use of missiles and drones, which is "reducing the relevance of tanks and other kinds of aircraft", he said.
"It has become difficult to protect humanity. Often, missiles are fired on civilian settlements. This has created a serious problem and there is a need to discuss all these issues at a global level," he said.
