Washington, June 22, 2025: In a significant escalation, the United States has bombed three key nuclear sites in Iran, President Donald Trump announced on Sunday. The strikes mark a dramatic shift in U.S. involvement, as the nation joins Israel’s ongoing conflict with Iran.
The targets of the U.S. airstrikes were Iran’s critical nuclear facilities at Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. "The American planes completed a very successful attack," President Trump said in a televised address from the Oval Office.
This is the first direct U.S. military action inside Iran since the 1979 Iranian Revolution. Trump declared the operation a "spectacular military success," stating that Iran’s nuclear enrichment infrastructure had been "completely obliterated."
Labeling Iran as the "bully of the Middle East," the President emphasized the need for peace. "If Iran does not come to the table, future attacks will be far greater and executed with even greater precision," he warned.
The strikes follow days of deliberation, with Trump initially suggesting a decision on U.S. involvement in the conflict could take up to two weeks. The President underlined the urgency for diplomacy while simultaneously cautioning Iran of "many targets left" should hostilities continue.
The conflict intensified after Israel launched "Operation Rising Lion," targeting Iran’s nuclear sites, military installations, top generals, and nuclear scientists. Israel claims Tehran was on the verge of developing a nuclear weapon, prompting preemptive action.
Trump’s statement signals a pivotal moment in the Israel-Iran war, with global tensions rising as the international community assesses the potential fallout of the U.S.’s entry into the conflict.
