Two homeguards suspended for asking students to remove sacred thread at Shivamogga college

Shivamogga, April 19, 2025: Two home guards have been suspended in connection with the janivara removal incident that occurred at Adichunchanagiri PU college on April 16.

Deputy Commissioner Gurudatta Hegde said two home guards were suspended following instructions from the district-in-charge minister and a report has been submitted to the Karnataka Examinations Authority which conducted the CET.

They had asked students of Brahmin community to.remove janivara and attend the CET.

Two second PU students were asked to remove their janivaras before entering the CET centre. This triggered controversy across the state and Brahmana Mahasabha condemened it and filed a complaint with the police.
