Washington, Sep 20, 2026: US President Donald Trump has warned that “very big things” could happen soon as his administration weighs its next move in the conflict with Iran and considers possible military action against Yemen’s Houthi rebels.

Speaking to Fox News on Sunday, Trump said he was in a “deciding mode” over Iran and indicated that his options included further economic pressure, a diplomatic agreement or military action. He also said he would “probably” be open to meeting Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian during the United Nations General Assembly in New York this week.

The latest developments come after Houthi forces launched missile and drone attacks targeting Saudi Arabia, including an attempted ballistic missile strike on Riyadh. Saudi authorities said the missile was intercepted and that further attacks were thwarted.

Trump cut short his weekend stay at Camp David and returned to the White House on Sunday. Reports said discussions at Camp David included possible options for military strikes against the Houthis, although the White House has not publicly confirmed that a decision to launch an attack has been made.

US diplomatic missions in several Middle Eastern countries have also issued security warnings to American citizens, citing the potential for a rapid escalation of the conflict.

Trump said Washington remains in communication with the Houthis and that the group had agreed not to target US personnel. Meanwhile, Iran has warned that further US or allied attacks could trigger retaliation against American interests and bases in the region.

The escalating tensions come as world leaders gather in New York for the UN General Assembly, where the Iran conflict and wider security situation in West Asia are expected to feature prominently.
