According to the police, the incident occurred on August 24 at 9:30 pm near the Royal Travels office, opposite the Kalasipalya BMTC Bus Stand in Bengaluru.
The FIR filed following a complaint by Harikrishna, who worked as a loading incharge at Royal Travels, noted that he and his workers were doing their jobs when the suspects arrived at the scene and confronted Shilendra Kumar, one of the workers.
“They pushed Shilendra Kumar after asking him why he wore a saffron towel. When I intervened, they abused me and beat me up and tore my shirt. They also asked why my workers were allowed to wear saffron towels and ordered me to have them removed,” Harikrishna alleged as per the FIR.
The Kalasipalya police first filed a Non-Cognizable Report (NCR) and registered the FIR on August 25 after receiving permission from a local court. Further probe is underway.
