Tamil Nadu college student gang-raped in front of male friend in Kanchipuram

Kanchipuram, Jan 14, 2023: A college student was gang-raped by five men in Tamil Nadu’s Kanchipuram near Bengaluru - Puducherry highway on Thursday.

 

The victim and her male friend were talking near a private school property on Thursday night around 7 pm when a gang of five men surrounded them and threatened the victim’s friend at knife point. They then took turns raping the victim.

The men also threatened to murder and bury the woman if she didn’t comply. The victim and her friend escaped when they got a chance and reached out to their relatives, who then admitted the woman to the hospital and informed the police.

The woman had told the police that she couldn’t recognise anyone as there was no light, but heard one of the accused calling another Vimal.

Police then traced Vimal to Vipadu village and surrounded him as he tried to flee. Through Vimal, the Tamil Nadu police found the other four, identified as Manikandan, Sivakumar, Vignesh and Thennarasu.

Rape charges were filed against all five accused and sent to judicial custody.
