Mumbai, July 27, 2025: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India’s largest IT services firm, announced on Sunday that it will reduce its workforce by 2% during the 2026 financial year, impacting around 12,200 employees—primarily in middle and senior management roles.

The company said the job cuts are part of a broader restructuring plan as it adapts to evolving market demands, invests in new technologies and integrates artificial intelligence into its operations. TCS added that it is also retraining and redeploying staff to support these transitions.

“This transition is being planned with due care to ensure there is no impact on service delivery to our clients,” the company stated.

India’s $283 billion IT sector has been under pressure due to subdued global demand, delayed client decisions, inflationary concerns, and uncertainty over U.S. trade policies. TCS CEO K Krithivasan had recently noted delays in project kick-offs and client approvals.
