Six killed, 2 injured in road accident in Vijaypur

Vijaypur, May 21, 2025: Six people were killed on the spot and two others sustained grievous injuries after an SUV hit a private bus and a lorry on NH 50 near Managoli village here on Wednesday.

The deceased have been identified as T Bhaskar, Manager of Canara Bank, Gadwal branch in Telangana, his wife Pavitra, daughter Jyotsna, and the SUV driver Vikas Shivappa Makani, a resident of Horthi village in Vijaypur, and private bus driver Basavaraj Rathod of Kalagatagi taluk in Dharwad. The identity of the sixth person is yet to be ascertained.

According to police sources, the SUV which was moving at a very high speed towards Solapur crashed into a divider before having a head-on collision with a private bus that was on its way from Mumbai to Ballari and a truck. The impact was so hard that six persons died on the spot and their body parts were strewn all over the place.

Praveentej, son of Bhaskar, and lorry driver Channabasava Siddappa are battling for their lives at Vijaypur District Hospital and their condition is said to be critical.

Senior police officials visited the spot and registered a case.
