All passengers were evacuated on the runway using emergency slides, while stairs were arranged for a few who were unable to use the slides. The six injured passengers were taken to hospital for treatment, while the crew members remained unharmed.

In a statement, SWISS said there were 228 passengers and four infants on board the aircraft, registered as HB-JHK. “Shortly after takeoff, an issue occurred with one of the engines. The crew rejected the takeoff and, as a precaution, decided to evacuate the aircraft,” the airline said.

The airline added that it has set up a task force to handle the situation and is assisting passengers with rebooking and accommodation. “Passengers have been provided contact cards, and our teams are in direct contact with them,” it said.

SWISS also said its technical experts will travel to Delhi to inspect the aircraft and determine the cause of the incident. “We are working closely with local authorities and remain committed to ensuring passenger safety, which is our top priority,” the statement added.

Visuals of the incident surfaced on social media, showing passengers evacuating the aircraft on the runway.
