According to reports, some commuters were injured in the incident and at least two cars came under the debris. Though the Delhi Traffic Police confirmed the incident through its posts on Facebook and Twitter, it refrained from making any comment on casualty or trapped cars.

The traffic police said the incident took place between Madhuban Chowk and Mangolpuri. They diverted the traffic at Peeragarhi Chowk accordingly.

The incident caused a lot of problems to students, office-goers, traders of national capital region and long distance travellers as it happened during the peak hour of traffic rush. The road usually remains clogged during the peak hours due to ongoing construction of roads and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation line.

SP workers clog DND Flyway

Meanwhile, a political gathering led to a massive traffic jam on DND Flyway, creating problems for thousands of daily commuters between Delhi and Noida in the morning.

There was more than a 2 km long traffic snarl on Delhi-Noida side of the expressway as the supporters of Samajwadi Party’s Gautam Budh Nagar unit Rakesh Yadav jostled to welcome their leader.

Authorities also blamed a technical snag at DND toll plaza for the delay in passage of vehicles, leading to long lines of vehicles.
