
Mumbai, March 29, 2026: Vijaypat Singhania, former Chairman of Raymond Group and a Padma Bhushan awardee, passed away in Mumbai at the age of 87, his family said on Saturday.
Announcing his demise, his son Gautam Singhania said in a statement that Vijaypat Singhania was a visionary leader, philanthropist, and an inspiring personality whose legacy would continue to guide future generations.

He is survived by his wife Ashadevi Singhania and children Madhupati Singhania, Shephali Ruia and Gautam Singhania. The last rites will be held at Chandanwadi crematorium in Mumbai at 3 pm on Sunday.
Born on October 4, 1938, Vijaypat Singhania took over as Chairman of Raymond Group in 1980 and played a pivotal role in transforming it into one of India’s most trusted names in men’s fashion. He led the company for two decades before handing over the reins to Gautam Singhania in 2000, along with his 37% stake.
Apart from his business achievements, he was also a noted aviator and held a world record for the highest altitude achieved in a hot air balloon. He was conferred the Padma Bhushan in 2006.
Vijaypat Singhania and Gautam Singhania had been involved in legal disputes since 2015 but reconciled in 2024.
