
Tumakuru, Jul 30, 2026: In a bizarre incident straight out of a movie, a rat allegedly stole diamond and gold jewellery worth ₹10 lakh from a jewellery store in Tumakuru, with the unusual theft story now going viral.
The incident took place at Vishwas Jewellers near Caltex Circle in Tumakuru.
Initially, the shop owner was baffled as there were no signs of forced entry. The shutter was intact, no one had entered the shop, yet diamond and gold ornaments weighing over 50 grams had mysteriously disappeared.
While reviewing CCTV footage, the owner and staff were stunned to discover that the "thief" was not a human but a rat.
The CCTV footage reportedly showed the rat quietly entering the shop and carrying away 10 rings and three chains. It had hidden the jewellery, worth around ₹10 lakh, inside its burrow.
Following the rat’s trail, the shop staff dug up the burrow and successfully recovered the missing diamond and gold ornaments.
The entire incident was captured on CCTV, and the shop owner finally breathed a sigh of relief after recovering the valuable jewellery.
