Rajasthan, Feb 8, 2026: At least two people were killed and 13 others injured after a building under construction collapsed in the Indravihar area of Kota on Sunday, officials said.
According to authorities, the structure gave way from top to bottom while construction work was underway. Kota Divisional Commissioner Anil Kumar Agrawal said preliminary findings indicate that negligence in construction quality may have led to the collapse. He added that local residents had earlier complained about drilling activity at the site.

“Two deaths have been reported and 13 people are injured. Initial information suggests the collapse could be due to poor construction quality. A detailed technical investigation will be carried out and the findings will be made public,” Agrawal told reporters.
Rescue and relief operations were immediately launched, and the injured were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Lok Sabha Speaker and Kota MP Om Birla expressed deep sorrow over the incident and said he was in constant touch with the district administration. In a post on X, Birla said he had directed the District Collector and other officials to expedite rescue efforts and ensure prompt medical care for the injured. He also prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured and strength for the affected families.
