Prakash Raj claims his name deleted from Karnataka voter list amid ongoing SIR exercise

Bengaluru, Aug 11, 2026: Actor-activist Prakash Raj has claimed that his name has been deleted from the electoral roll in his constituency in Bengaluru amid the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists in Karnataka.

In a video shared on X, Raj said he was among the alleged 65 lakh voters whose names had been removed during the revision exercise. He expressed shock over the alleged deletion and questioned how his name could be removed despite having been born, raised and educated in the same constituency and having contested the Lok Sabha election from there.

Raising concerns over the voter verification process, Raj questioned the transparency of the exercise and said he wanted to see what documents would now be required to get his name restored to the electoral roll.

“Let me see what is the process I have to go through… Dekhte hai kya kya kagaz dikhana padega (let’s see what documents we will have to produce now) to get back my voter ID,” he said.

Raj also questioned how thousands of genuine voters could be excluded from the electoral rolls following the SIR exercise.

“You may use your powers to deny a few citizens their right to vote because they won’t elect you. But can you stop us from using our power to bring you down?” he said.

His allegation comes amid growing concerns among civic groups and political observers over the management and accuracy of electoral rolls in Karnataka. Several groups have sought an immediate audit of the ASDDO (Absent, Shifted, Dead and Duplicate/Other) list released in July.

The Election Commission recently revised the schedule for Karnataka’s SIR exercise, adding a nine-day window for processing forms and reviewing the state’s 1.09-crore ASDDO list. The additional time is intended to allow field officials to correct cases where eligible voters may have been wrongly flagged.

As part of the revised schedule, the publication of the draft electoral roll has been postponed from August 17 to August 24.
