Indian Delegation At Khamenei’s Funeral
Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita and Bihar Governor Lt Gen (Retd.) Syed Ata Hasnain represented India at the funeral ceremony held in Tehran last week.
The delegation represented the Government of India at the mourning ceremony as Iran began formal funeral rites for Khamenei, who was killed during the recent US-Israel conflict.
Senior Congress leader and former External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid, and Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti also attended the funeral ceremonies.
Meanwhile, a two-day public farewell ceremony for Khamenei has concluded.
Millions of mourners gathered in Tehran for the funeral ceremonies, where Iranian political and military leaders pledged to continue his legacy and vowed accountability for those responsible for his death. His three sons were seen praying beside the coffin. However, Mojtaba Khamenei, his successor and the man currently leading Iran, was absent from the ceremony.
Following Khamenei’s death, his son Mojtaba Khamenei was appointed as the new Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic.
