Alappuzha, Apr 16, 2026: The parents of Jerin George, a native of Haripad, have appealed to authorities to help bring their son home as he remains stranded on an Iranian ship amid the ongoing conflict in West Asia.
George, who has been working on the vessel, had left home eight months ago and was expected to return by March 3. However, following the outbreak of war in February, the ship returned to Iran, leaving him unable to travel back.
“I just want my son to come back,” his mother said, breaking down during a television interview. She added that food supplies on the ship were limited and that the family has only been able to speak to him over phone calls.
“We haven’t been able to see him as video calls are not possible,” she said.
George’s father said they have submitted written requests to Congress general secretary K C Venugopal and senior leader Ramesh Chennithala, seeking assistance in bringing their son back.
“We just want him to return home safely,” he added.
