New Delhi, Apr 2, 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security at his official residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, to review key developments amid the ongoing West Asia conflict.
The meeting was attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar.
The high-level discussion comes in the wake of escalating tensions linked to the US-Israel conflict with Iran, which has disrupted global energy supplies, particularly due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
During the meeting, the Cabinet Secretary briefed members on measures taken to ensure uninterrupted supply of petroleum products, especially LNG and LPG, along with adequate power availability for the public.
He also informed that India is diversifying its sources for LPG procurement, with new supplies being secured from multiple countries. Similarly, LNG imports are being sourced from a wider range of nations.
The committee reviewed steps to maintain price stability of essential commodities and directed strict action against hoarding and black-marketing.
To strengthen coordination with states and Union Territories on price monitoring and enforcement of the Essential Commodities Act, the government has set up dedicated control rooms.
Prime Minister Modi called for all-out efforts to shield citizens from the impact of the conflict. He also reviewed the availability of fertilisers and measures to ensure adequate supply during the upcoming Kharif and Rabi seasons.
The Prime Minister further emphasized the need for timely and transparent dissemination of information to curb the spread of rumours.
