Bengaluru, August 10, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the much-awaited Yellow Line of the Bengaluru Metro, a key addition expected to ease traffic congestion along major IT corridors.

The 19-km stretch from RV Road (Ragigudda) to Bommasandra, part of the Phase-2 project, has been built at a cost of around ₹7,160 crore and features 16 stations. With its launch, Bengaluru’s operational metro network now extends beyond 96 km, covering a wider commuter base.

PM Modi also took a metro ride from RV Road to Electronic City, interacting with students on board. The Yellow Line is expected to significantly reduce travel time along busy stretches including Hosur Road, Silk Board Junction, and Electronics City Junction.

Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar recently announced that three train sets are currently in operation with services every 25 minutes. The frequency is expected to improve to 10 minutes after the arrival of the fourth train set later this month.

Crowds lined the streets in the rain to greet the Prime Minister, chanting slogans and showering flower petals as his convoy travelled from KSR Bengaluru railway station to Ragigudda station.

Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Union Ministers Manohar Lal Khattar and Shobha Karandlaje, and Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar were present at the inauguration.
