Nora Fatehi’s ‘Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke’ removed from YouTube after backlash over vulgar lyrics

New Delhi, Mar 17, 2026: Nora Fatehi’s latest dance number Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke, featuring Sanjay Dutt, from her upcoming movie KD: The Devil, has been taken down from YouTube following a strong backlash against its lyrics and choreography.

Initially, Nora Fatehi’s latest song Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke, featuring Sanjay Dutt, generated buzz due to its high-energy visuals and Nora’s signature dance steps. However, shortly after its release, the song came under fire, with a section of netizens referring to it as ‘vulgar’ and ‘inappropriate.’

According to sources, the song was available on YouTube till March 16, following which it was taken down by the next morning. When users clicked on the link, they were shown a ‘video unavailable’ message, indicating that the video had been made private.

The controversy largely revolves around the song’s lyrics, which many believe include strong double meanings and suggestive undertones.

While the makers may have intended a massy dance number, critics argued that the wording crossed the line of decency. The choreography, particularly a hook step involving the pallu, also sparked debate online, with several users calling it overly provocative.

The backlash wasn’t limited to audiences alone. Singer Armaan Malik also expressed disappointment, calling the song a “new low” in commercial songwriting, further fuelling the controversy. He added, “This showed up on my timeline and I had to replay it just to make sure I heard it right. Sad to see commercial songwriting hit a new low..”

Amid the growing outrage, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) member Priyank Kanungo also reacted strongly to the song. Questioning its content, he asked on March 16, "Who can sit with their civilised family and watch this?" In a post on X, he further stated that the NHRC would issue notices to the makers and that they would eventually face action.

Despite the criticism, the song had gone viral shortly after release, trending across platforms and drawing significant attention. However, the makers of KD: The Devil, directed by Prem, are yet to officially respond to the controversy.

The film, set in 1970s Bengaluru and starring Dhruva Sarja, is slated for a theatrical release on April 30, 2026.
