New Delhi, Oct 12, 2025: After weeks of negotiations, the NDA has finalised its seat-sharing arrangement for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced on X that both the BJP and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) will contest 101 of the 243 seats each.

Upendra Kushwaha’s Rashtriya Lok Morcha and Jitan Ram Manjhi’s Hindustan Awam Morcha (HAM) will get six seats each. Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) — the main holdout in the talks — has been allotted 29 seats.

The LJP had initially demanded 40–45 seats, citing its strong performance in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, where it won all five constituencies it contested. The final compromise came after multiple rounds of discussions with Mr. Pradhan.

In 2020, the JDU had contested 115 seats and the BJP 110. Both parties have made adjustments this time to accommodate allies and maintain NDA unity in Bihar.
