In the men’s 60kg weightlifting event, Chanambam Rishikanta Singh secured the silver medal after finishing behind Malaysia’s Mohamad Aniq Bin Kasdan. Both lifters set a Games record with successful 121kg snatch lifts, but Kasdan edged ahead with a superior performance in the clean and jerk to claim the gold.

India, however, endured setbacks in other events. The women’s lawn bowls pairs team of Rupa Rani Tirkey and Pinki Singh crashed out of the competition after suffering a second successive defeat, losing to England in a tie-break. The Indian pair won the opening set 4-3 but lost the second 3-10 before going down in the tie-break.

In women’s 3x3 wheelchair basketball, India suffered a heavy 4-21 defeat to South Africa. The team will play Nigeria in its final pool-stage match.
