The fire department received an emergency call around 6:30 am and dispatched 11 fire engines to the site. Despite efforts, the fire claimed several lives, and many injured were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Union Minister G Kishan Reddy visited the affected family, who lived above their shop in the densely populated area. "This is a deeply saddening incident. I have spoken to the family members and assured them of support. There is a pressing need to strengthen our police, municipal, fire, and electricity departments. Initial reports suggest firefighters faced equipment challenges, and we must introduce better technology. I will discuss financial aid for the victims with the central government and the Prime Minister," he said.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed his shock and directed officials to expedite relief measures and ensure the best medical care for the injured.

The Gulzar House area, known for its century-old jewellery shops set closely together, poses unique challenges for fire containment due to its narrow lanes and interconnected structures. Telangana Minister Ponnam Prabhakar confirmed that the bodies had been recovered and assured that the state government would release detailed information soon.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his condolences through the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). "Deeply anguished by the loss of lives due to a fire tragedy in Hyderabad. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. May the injured recover soon. An ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh from the PMNRF will be provided to the kin of the deceased, and ₹50,000 will be given to the injured," the PMO said in a statement on X.
