New Delhi, Oct 10, 2026: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has directed all states and Union Territories to coordinate with Delhi Police and take preventive measures to stop Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) supporters from mobilising towards the national capital for a proposed protest at Jantar Mantar on Saturday.
In a letter to state and UT directors general of police, the Union Home Secretary cited potential law and order concerns arising from the proposed October 10 protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
The MHA said there were credible intelligence inputs suggesting that CJP supporters and affiliated organisations might attempt to enter Delhi without authorisation despite the denial of permission for the protest.
The ministry directed state and UT authorities to implement immediate preventive measures in coordination with Delhi Police. It also called for continuous, real-time intelligence sharing among state and UT intelligence agencies, border transit authorities and Delhi Police to ensure coordinated action.
The letter stated that the CJP’s request to hold the protest had been rejected and the proposed gathering prohibited. It also referred to a 2018 Supreme Court order on compliance with established protocols governing assemblies in the area.
The Home Secretary further alleged that the CJP and its supporting organisations had previously failed to comply with lawful directions, resulting in public order disruptions and damage to public and private property during mobilisations to Delhi.
The MHA said the measures were necessary to prevent any breach of public tranquillity and safeguard critical infrastructure, while directing authorities to act within the framework of law.
