New Delhi, Oct 17, 2026: All India Students’ Association (AISA) president Neha Bora was released early Saturday morning, while Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke will be produced before a Special Executive Magistrate (SEM) court, Delhi Police said.
The two were taken into preventive custody on Friday ahead of the ’Lehra Do Tiranga’ protest march at Connaught Place.
Bora was released after completing the formalities related to her detention under Section 65 of the Delhi Police Act. Action was initiated against Dipke under Sections 126 and 170 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), police said.
Dipke was subsequently arrested and is scheduled to be produced before the SEM court later on Saturday, police sources said.
According to police sources, Bora was detained at Mandi House, while Dipke was picked up at Jhandewalan on Friday as they were heading towards Connaught Place.
AISA alleged that Bora was moved between different locations across Delhi for nearly five hours after her detention before being taken to the R.K. Puram police station.
The organisation claimed that lawyers who reached the police station around midnight were not allowed to meet her. It also alleged that the police had not clarified when she would be released and had refused to provide her with medicines despite being aware that she had been unwell for the past few days.
Police said around 150 people had been detained as a preventive measure to maintain law and order and ensure smooth traffic movement.
Security was tightened at Connaught Place, with personnel cordoning off Central Park. Rapid Action Force personnel were deployed inside the park, while additional security forces were stationed in the surrounding area.
