Kerala: Woman pushed out of moving train after argument over standing at the door

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 3, 2025: Railway police from Kochuveli arrested a man for allegedly pushing a woman out of the ladies’ compartment of Kerala Express train on the Varkala-Ayanty railway section around 8:30pm on Sunday.

According to eyewitnesses, the man, suspected to be a Neyyattinkara native, boarded the ladies’ compartment of Kerala Express heading towards Thiruvananthapuram from Varkala in an inebriated state. 


Moving train

When a woman passenger questioned him for entering the reserved coach, he became aggressive. During the ensuing altercation, he pushed her out of the moving train.

Passengers and railway officials rescued the woman, who fell onto the track. She was taken on a MEMU train bound for Kollam and admitted to Varkala Sree Narayana Medical Mission Hospital. As her condition turned critical, she was later shifted to Thiruvananthapuram medical college hospital, where she is undergoing treatment.

Police said the woman has not yet been identified. The only items recovered from her were an ATM card bearing the name "Geetha C" and a train ticket issued from Alappuzha.

Further investigation is under way to confirm the victim’s identity and the motive behind the attack.
