
Lucknow, January 10, 2026: A man from Kashmir was detained on Saturday for allegedly attempting to offer namaz within the Ram Temple complex in Ayodhya, officials said.
The detained individual has been identified as Ahmed Sheikh (50), a resident of Shopian district in Kashmir. According to sources, he allegedly tried to offer namaz near the southern boundary of the Ram Temple complex.

Sources said Sheikh raised slogans when some locals objected to his actions. Following this, security personnel reached the spot and took him into custody. He was later handed over to the Ram Janmabhoomi police station for further questioning.
In connection with the incident, a few Kashmiri youths engaged in selling woollen clothes in the area were also detained for questioning, sources added.
“The person is being interrogated. We are trying to ascertain how he managed to reach the Ram Temple complex,” an Ayodhya official said.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Sheikh was travelling to Ajmer. Some dry fruits were recovered from him during the inquiry.
Meanwhile, sources said security arrangements at the Ram Temple complex are being reviewed in the wake of the incident.
