Vinayak Bakale, 31, a real-estate agent, had made a deal of Rs 65 lakh with seven people to murder his father Prakash Bakale, stepmother Sunanda, and half-brother Karthik Bakale. Vinayak and the seven goons have been arrested.

The killers planned to barge inside their home and murder the trio. While they managed to kill Karthik, they also ended up killing some guests at the home, who had come after attending a wedding.

The deceased have been identified as Karthik (27), Parashuram Hadimani (55), Lakshmi Hadimani (45), and Akanksha Hadimani (16).

According to the police, Vinayak and his father had frequent fights over property-related issues.

Prakash had named many of his properties after Vinayak in the past. But in the last five or six months, Vinayak sold the properties without consulting his father. This led to their relationship taking a downturn.

Also, Karthik, Vinayak’s step-brother, was an equal stakeholder in Prakash Barkale’s properties, which could also have been a trigger behind Vinayak’s action, the police said.

The goons hired by Vinayak have been identified as Fairoz (29), Jishan (24), Sahil (19), Sohail (19), Sultan Sheikh (23), Mahesh Salunke (21), and Waheed Bepari (21).

Vikas Kumar, Inspector General of Police of Northern Range, said, "According to their deal, Rs 65 lakh was promised to the contract killers through Fairoz. We secured them (accused) in 2-3 days."
