Bengaluru, Jul 21, 2026: A 14-year-old girl was kidnapped, gang raped in an under-construction building and dropped near her home the following morning in Karnataka’s Devanahalli in a horrific incident that has sent shockwaves across the town. Three people, including a woman, have been arrested in connection with the case.
The accused have been identified as Naveen, Venkataramana, and Renuka. Police said on July 17, Renuka allegedly lured the minor out of her home on the pretext of visiting a temple in Devanahalli, which is an hour away from Bengaluru.
HOW THE CRIME UNFOLDED?
The girl was handed over to Naveen and Venkataramana. The duo took the girl in an auto to another location. On the way, the accused allegedly forced her to consume alcohol.
At one point, the accused stopped the auto near the minor’s home. However, they changed their mind after noticing that the girl was drunk.
"When they (accused) got there (to her home), she insisted that she wanted to go home. They told her, ’No, you are drunk. If we take you home now, you will get caught, and your father will scold you’. They then took her to another location and raped her," police sources told India Today.
The girl was then taken to an under-construction building, where the duo allegedly raped her through the night. Police said she was even assaulted.
The minor was dropped near her house the next morning. Before leaving, the accused even threatened to kill her if she disclosed the assault to anyone.
Meanwhile, tension prevailed in the minor’s house after she did not return home at night. When she arrived in the morning, her mother questioned her. She broke down and narrated the entire ordeal. The family then lodged a complaint with Devanahalli police.
Based on the minor’s statement, police registered a case of gang-rape against the three accused. They were arrested shortly after.
