Bengaluru, Mar 28, 2026: Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh on Friday chaired a high-level meeting with police officials and office-bearers of the Karnataka State Cricket Association to review security and safety arrangements ahead of the IPL match at M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
The 19th edition of the IPL will kick off on March 28, with defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru set to face Sunrisers Hyderabad in the opening match in the city. RCB will also take on Chennai Super Kings on April 5.
Officials briefed Rajneesh on security measures inside and around the stadium, traffic management plans, parking facilities, availability of drinking water, and other arrangements aimed at ensuring fan safety.
The match assumes significance as it will be the first major game at the venue since 11 people lost their lives in a stampede during celebrations of RCB’s maiden IPL title in June last year.
Rajneesh also reviewed metro-related arrangements, including passenger crowd management, train schedules, and deployment of additional security at stations. She directed officials to take all necessary precautions to prevent even minor incidents.
Emphasising strict adherence to government guidelines, she instructed authorities to remain on high alert and ensure continuous coordination and information-sharing among all agencies involved.
