New Delhi, March 8, 2026: Iran continued its wave of attacks across the Gulf region, targeting key infrastructure in multiple countries a day after Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Tehran would not attack neighbouring nations.

Fuel tanks at Kuwait International Airport were reportedly targeted, while air defence systems in Saudi Arabia intercepted and destroyed 15 drones. The attacks were part of a wider escalation of hostilities in the region.

Iran Launches Fresh Drone and Missile Attacks Across Gulf

Earlier, the defence ministry of Qatar said the country had been targeted by 10 ballistic missiles and two cruise missiles fired from Iran, though most were intercepted and no casualties were reported.

Meanwhile, Kuwait Petroleum Corporation announced a “precautionary” reduction in crude oil production after the country’s military responded to what it described as a wave of hostile drones entering its airspace. Authorities said the attack directly targeted vital infrastructure, adding that some civilian facilities suffered material damage due to falling debris from interception operations.

In Saudi Arabia, attempted drone strikes were reported in several locations, including the diplomatic quarter in the capital Riyadh.

Fresh incidents were also reported in Qatar. In Dubai, debris from a missile interception reportedly fell on a vehicle, killing a Pakistani driver. In a rare televised address, UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan said the country was in “a period of war” but would emerge stronger from the conflict.

Although Pezeshkian had earlier stated that Iran would not attack neighbouring countries and would not surrender, Iran’s judiciary chief later indicated that strikes would continue against sites in Gulf nations allegedly being used by adversaries.

Explosions were reported across Dubai, briefly forcing the closure of Dubai International Airport, the world’s second-busiest airport for international passengers. Travellers were moved into train tunnels for safety after a loud blast was heard, followed by a cloud of smoke. Dubai’s media office later confirmed a minor incident caused by debris from an interception.

The death of the Pakistani driver on Sunday raised the number of people killed in the UAE since the conflict began on February 28 to four, all of them foreign nationals.

According to the UAE defence ministry, 221 ballistic missiles have been detected since the war began, along with more than 1,300 drones. Several locations in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, including Palm Jumeirah, Burj Al Arab and the US consulate in Dubai, have been impacted.

Saudi authorities also said air defence systems destroyed three ballistic missiles headed toward Prince Sultan Air Base, which hosts American troops, and intercepted 17 drones over the Shaybah oil field in the country’s southeast.
