Bengaluru, June 10: The Central Police Division busted an inter-city stolen car racket by arresting three persons for selling stolen cars after replacing the chassis and registration number of the stolen cars.

The racket was busted based on a tip-off by Ashok Nagar Police who picked up Moin Ahmed, a 32-year-old scrap dealer in Shivaji Nagar. A detailed questioning led Moin to give up the names of his associates in Mysuru.

According to the police, Moin Ahmad would get discarded cars as scrap and remove their chassis and registration number after breaking down the cars. Moin would, then, pass on the numbers to Ansar Pasha, Moin’s associate and a notorious car lifter in Mysuru, who replaced the registration numbers provided by Moin with the stolen car to make it genuine.

Moin, with the help of Suhail Shariff and Nadeem Ahmed, two Mysuru-based second-hand car dealers, would forge the documents for the cars and sell them to gullible customers.

Police have arrested Suhail and Nadeem from Mysuru and recovered 10 cars worth Rs. 60 lakh from them. Ansar Pasha is absconding.
