New Delhi, July 12, 2026: India on Sunday condemned the attack on the commercial vessel GFS Galaxy off the coast of Oman, in which 11 Indian nationals were on board. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said 10 Indians have been rescued, while one Indian national remains missing.
In a statement, the MEA said the Indian Embassy in Oman is closely monitoring the situation and is coordinating with the Omani authorities involved in the ongoing search and rescue operation.

The ministry thanked the Omani authorities for their assistance and expressed concern over the continuing attacks on commercial shipping in the region, describing them as "deeply worrisome."
Reiterating India’s call for immediate de-escalation, the MEA urged all parties to conclude ongoing negotiations through diplomatic means to restore peace and stability in the region.
The ministry also stressed that attacks on commercial shipping and civilian infrastructure must end, and called for the restoration of free, safe and unimpeded navigation and commerce through international waterways in accordance with international law.
