According to the police, the investigation began on May 17 when a complaint was received from a GHMC worker who discovered a woman’s head in a black cover at a garbage dumping site near the Musi river, close to Afzal Nagar Community Hall on Theegalguda road. Following a week-long analysis, the police formed eight teams, leading to the arrest of the suspect. The victim was identified as Y Anuradha Reddy, a 55-year-old woman who had a relationship with the accused.

The police revealed that the accused had taken a substantial amount of money, approximately ₹7 lakhs, from the victim since 2018 but had not repaid her despite her repeated requests. Frustrated by the victim’s persistent demands, the accused developed a plan to eliminate her.

On May 12, as per the premeditated plan, the suspect engaged in an argument with the victim over the outstanding amount and attacked her with a knife, causing fatal injuries to her chest and stomach. The police disclosed that the accused had procured two small stone-cutting machines to dispose of the body.

Subsequently, the accused beheaded the victim and placed the head in a black polythene cover. The legs and hands were severed from the trunk using a stone-cutting machine, with the limbs stored in a refrigerator and the trunk placed in a suitcase for disposal. On May 15, the suspect dumped the victim’s beheaded head at a disposal site.

To prevent any foul odor, the accused used cleaning products such as Phenyl, Dettol, agarbattis, camphor, and perfume sprays on the victim’s body parts. Additionally, the suspect took the victim’s cell phone and sent messages to acquaintances, trying to create the impression that she was alive and staying elsewhere.

This incident bears similarities to the case in Delhi where Shraddha Walkar was murdered by Aaftab Amin Poonawala and dismembered into 35 pieces. Aftab admitted during interrogation that he disposed of the body parts that could decompose quickly after killing Shraddha.
