From AI to flying taxis, India-Europe ties eye a new era of co-creation

Bengaluru, Sep 23, 2026: India and European countries are seeking to move beyond traditional partnerships towards co-creating technologies, businesses and solutions, with emerging opportunities in areas such as climate change, healthcare, cybersecurity, manufacturing and resilient supply chains.

Delegates from the Czech Republic, Denmark, Bavaria in Germany, Italy, Switzerland and Israel highlighted opportunities for deeper collaboration with India on the opening day of the India Advantage Summit (TIA Summit) 2026 in Bengaluru on Tuesday.

Bavaria highlighted the strength of its existing business ties with India. Around 500 Bavarian companies are currently operating in India, along with nearly 300 joint ventures, with further opportunities identified in pharmaceuticals, life sciences, aerospace, defence, mobility and sustainable technologies.

Ulrike Müller, Member of the Bavarian State Parliament, said a new economic delegation from Bavaria is expected to visit India in February.

Josef Hrubec, Director, CzechTrade India, said the Czech Republic sees significant opportunities for cooperation with India in engineering, healthcare, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.

Denmark is looking to expand its partnership with India into areas including technology, space and defence, while Italy identified reliable supply chains, connectivity and access to critical materials as key areas for cooperation.

Italy also highlighted the potential of the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) to create new trade routes and strengthen economic resilience against external disruptions.

The summit also showcased emerging mobility technologies, including electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, hydrogen-powered commercial vehicles and autonomous drones.

Bengaluru-based Sarla Aviation is working towards deploying eVTOL aircraft in India by 2030. Its first aircraft variant is planned as a fully electric aircraft capable of carrying six passengers and one pilot.

Other mobility technologies showcased at the summit included IONTRAK’s hydrogen fuel-cell technology for heavy trucks and drone systems developed by Tolle Labs.
