Mysuru, July 13, 2025: K B Ganapathy, veteran journalist and founder-editor of Star of Mysore and Mysuru Mithra, passed away at a private hospital here on Sunday. He was 85. According to family sources, he suffered a heart attack. He is survived by his wife and two children.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah condoled his death, calling Ganapathy a friend and a towering figure in journalism. “His demise has impoverished the field of journalism in our state,” Siddaramaiah wrote on X, praising Ganapathy’s five-decade-long career marked by objective and professional writing.
“Through Star of Mysore, he built a vast readership in the cultural city of Mysuru. His legacy should inspire young journalists,” the Chief Minister added.
Leader of the Opposition R Ashoka also paid tribute, acknowledging Ganapathy’s nearly 50 years of contributions to journalism and literature, including his work as a novelist.
