Former Karnataka Education Minister B.C. Nagesh passes away at 67

Bengaluru, Aug. 19, 2026: Senior BJP leader and former Karnataka Education Minister B.C. Nagesh, 67, passed away on Tuesday after a prolonged illness.

Nagesh had been suffering from a brain tumour for a long time and was undergoing treatment at his daughter’s residence in Jayanagar, Bengaluru. His condition deteriorated on Tuesday night, and he passed away.

His death has drawn condolences from leaders across the political spectrum in Karnataka.

Nagesh served as the Minister for School Education and Literacy and the Sakala Department in the BJP government led by Basavaraj Bommai from 2021 to 2023.

He represented the Tiptur Assembly constituency in Tumakuru district as a BJP MLA for two terms.

His mortal remains are being taken from Bengaluru to his home constituency of Tiptur. The last rites will be performed after the public pays its respects on August 19.
