In a reply to a tweet about the crowd at the airport, Air India tweeted, "We understand that delays are certainly uncomfortable. Our team is working diligently to minimize the inconvenience. They’ll be in touch with you for further updates."

The Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) in a statement requested passengers to allocate additional time for check-in and to connect with their respective airlines. It cited a "temporary network interruption outside the airport due to on-going development in the city" for the disruption.

A few hours later, the official Twitter handle of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport said all systems had been restored. It said a cable was cut due to construction work in the city.
