New Delhi, Jul 31, 2026: A day after Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi demanded SC-monitored probe into the crackdown of Jantar Mantar protests, saying the students deserve justice, he took a jibe at Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, saying the ’Gen Z cannot be threatened into silence.’
Taking to his X account, Rahul wrote, "PM Modi and Amit Shah - you cannot threaten Gen Z into silence."

The Congress leader further said they need to be careful on how they are treating India’s future. "You are India’s past. Be careful about how you treat India’s future," he added.
Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday ratcheted up his attack on the Modi government, calling for sacking of Home Minister Amit Shah holding him "responsible" for the "police brutality" on student protesters.
Rahul, who also demanded a Supreme Court monitored high-powered committee to fix accountability, said he was "not asking for anything extraordinary" but at least they should have the "decency to take responsibility for what they have done to the students".
Delhi government on Thursday said that Delhi Police will not take any adverse legal action against people who participated in the Cockroach Janta Party-led protest but this protection will not be available to those with criminal antecedents.
The Delhi government’s Home Department said if any arrests or detentions are already made, the process for reviewing the arrests and releasing the arrested persons will be undertaken expeditiously.
