First and last mistake..: Girl who made remarks on PM Modi during CJP protest releases apology video

New Delhi, Aug 1, 2026: A Zero FIR registered against a 15-year-old girl from Noida for allegedly making objectionable remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a CJP protest has been transferred to Delhi Police for further investigation.

The case was initially registered on July 29 based on a complaint alleging that the girl used abusive language against the Prime Minister during a demonstration over the NEET paper leak held on July 23.

Following the registration of the FIR, a video purportedly featuring the girl surfaced on social media, in which she apologised for her remarks.

In the video, she said she was influenced by others at the protest.

"During the protest many people were abusing the Prime Minister. After coming under their influence, I said a lot of things," she said.

Describing the incident as a mistake, she added, "I am only 15 years old. This will be my first and last mistake."

The authenticity of the video, however, has not been independently verified.

Reacting to the controversy in a late-night video message shared on social media, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he had been abused by children during the protest at Jantar Mantar, but described them as "gumrah" (misguided) and said it was society’s responsibility to guide them in the right direction.

He said he had forgiven them, adding that childhood is a time when mistakes are made and can also be corrected.

"Some naughty kids have choicest abuses. They used such words... let alone me, they even roped in my late mother. But mistakes are made in childhood, and it is during this time that one has the opportunity to correct them," the Prime Minister said.
