New Delhi, Feb 3, 2026: Eight Congress members were suspended from the Lok Sabha on Tuesday for “unruly behaviour,” including tearing papers and throwing them at the Chair.

The incident occurred as the House convened at 3 pm following multiple adjournments. Dilip Saikia, presiding in the Chair, named the eight MPs. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju then read out a resolution seeking their suspension for the remainder of the Budget session, which is scheduled to conclude on April 2. The House passed the resolution by voice vote, after which proceedings were adjourned for the day amid uproar.

Congress members, led by Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, staged a protest outside Parliament against the suspension. The disruption in the House began earlier Tuesday afternoon when Gandhi was barred from citing an article based on excerpts from an unpublished memoir of former Army chief M. M. Naravane on the 2020 India-China conflict.
