“Join the protest tomorrow in front of Mahatma Gandhi’s statue in parliament square at 12pm if you’re here,” Rathee wrote.

Rathee also called for the issue to be taken to an international audience, writing, “International danka bajane ka time aa gaya hai”.

He ended his post with “Jai Hind”.

Rathee was detained ahead of CJP protest last week

Rathee’s announcement comes a week after he was detained by Delhi Police from his residence in Sector 56, Gurugram, Haryana, ahead of a protest called by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar, according to a PTI report citing officials. He was released late Saturday night.

Police had taken Rathee into custody as authorities stepped up preventive measures to stop demonstrators from gathering in the national capital. Delhi Police had denied permission for the demonstration, citing security concerns and procedural requirements, while personnel were deployed at strategic locations to restrict protesters from reaching Jantar Mantar.

The CJP had called the protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and changes concerning Form 6, which is used for voter registration.

The party had also confirmed Rathee’s detention in a post on X, alleging that the government was afraid of young people who refused to remain silent.

CJP protest plans prompted Connaught Place market closure

The planned demonstration last week also prompted the New Delhi Traders Association (NDTA) to announce the closure of Connaught Place market on Saturday.

NDTA Joint Secretary Amit Gupta said the decision was taken in the interest of public safety, given the thousands of visitors who frequent the commercial hub during weekends.

Rathee’s latest announcement shifts the planned demonstration to London, where he has asked supporters to assemble outside Parliament Square’s Mahatma Gandhi statue at noon on Saturday. His post calls for the alleged voter irregularities to be brought before an international audience.
