Delhi Police Unlikely to Pursue Case Against Minor Who Abused PM Modi

New Delhi, Aug. 2, 2026: Delhi Police are not planning to register a case against the minor girl accused of using abusive language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest at Jantar Mantar last month, according to sources.

The Noida Police had earlier registered a zero FIR against the girl, initially identifying her as a 25-year-old woman. She later released an apology video stating that she is 15 years old and had made the remarks under the influence of others at the protest.

Expressing remorse, the teenager apologised to the Prime Minister and the country, calling it her "first and last mistake."

On Friday, Prime Minister Modi said he had forgiven the "misguided children" who abused him, adding that prosecuting and harassing them would not improve the situation. He also urged society to accept them.

On Sunday, the girl’s mother thanked the Prime Minister for his compassionate response and appealed for the cancellation of the FIR, saying it had been registered with an incorrect name and age. She also urged the government to restrict access to social media platforms for children below 18, arguing that minors are vulnerable to manipulation.

The Cockroach Janta Party had staged a five-week protest at Jantar Mantar demanding accountability over the NEET paper leak. The agitation ended last month after Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned and the Centre agreed to the group’s key demands, including no coercive action against protesters.
