New Delhi, Nov 3, 2026: Delhi Police Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Manasvi Vashistha, who led a protest by police personnel outside the Police Headquarters on Monday against the transfer of two officers, has been suspended.

The action comes a day after dozens of police personnel staged a demonstration outside the headquarters, demanding the withdrawal of transfer orders issued against two officers following a confrontation between police personnel and lawyers at Shahdara police station.

The suspension was ordered in connection with the protest, PTI reported, adding that further details of the order were awaited.

Tense scenes unfolded outside Gate No. 1 of the Police Headquarters on Monday as senior officers, including New Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sachin Sharma, arrived at the spot and attempted to persuade the protesting personnel to withdraw their demonstration.

The protest brought back memories of a similar demonstration in 2019, when more than 2,000 police personnel and their family members gathered outside the headquarters following attacks on policemen by lawyers. The incidents included a confrontation over a parking dispute at Tis Hazari Court.

The protest was eventually called off after senior officers assured the affected personnel of legal and medical assistance.
