New Delhi, Sep 18, 2026: A 17-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped and stabbed to death before her body was dumped in an open field in Delhi, police said. Four people, including three juveniles, have been apprehended in connection with the case.

The girl’s body was found near Jaipal Rana’s field on Kushak Road on September 13. Police said the body had decomposed significantly, making it difficult to immediately determine the victim’s gender. Some parts of the body had reportedly been eaten by stray dogs, and one hand was found severed
 from the body.

According to police, the victim knew the accused. The suspects allegedly consumed alcohol with her inside a tempo before the assault and murder.

Police said the girl’s family had not filed a missing-person complaint. Her family reportedly told investigators that she would sometimes leave home and return after a few days.

A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

CCTV footage helps police trace suspects

With no eyewitnesses and the identities of the suspects initially unknown, police analysed footage from more than 50 CCTV cameras covering the area and adjoining routes.

A tempo was spotted moving through the area around the suspected time of the crime, but its registration number could not be clearly identified due to poor visibility. Police subsequently tracked the vehicle’s movement through multiple CCTV cameras.

A night-long search operation was conducted on the intervening night of September 15 and 16. The suspected tempo was traced to Khadda Colony in the Swaroop Nagar area, following which its driver was identified and questioned.

The investigation led to the apprehension of four persons, including three juveniles, who police said were allegedly linked to the crime.

The adult accused has been identified as Shivam alias Sudama alias Chuchu, a resident of Khadda Colony. The three juveniles are aged 16 and 17, police said.

Police said they recovered two knives allegedly used in the crime, clothes allegedly worn by the accused and the tempo.

Further investigation is underway to establish the sequence of events, determine the individual roles of the accused and verify forensic and technical evidence.
