The IMD said the cyclone was expected to cross the coast between Nellore and Narsapur, near Ongole. Strong winds of 110 kmph, with gusts reaching 120 kmph, were likely to continue along and off the coast until Tuesday morning.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall was also forecast across south coastal Andhra Pradesh over the next 12 hours.

The IMD further warned of a storm surge of 1 to 1.5 metres above the astronomical tide, which could inundate low-lying coastal areas until Tuesday morning. Bapatla, Krishna and Prakasam districts were likely to experience the highest storm surge.
