
AP, Oct 29, 2025: Cyclone Montha made landfall on Tuesday, crossing the Andhra Pradesh and Yanan coasts between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam, to the south of Kakinada.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the “severe cyclonic storm" has now weakened into a cyclonic storm.

With a maximum sustained wind speed of 90-100kmph gusting to 110 kmph, Cyclone Montha is likely to bring “extremely” heavy rainfall in Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Telangana.
Its impact will not be limited to these states as heavy rainfall alerts have been issued for Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand and West Bengal.
Where is Cyclone Montha?
Cyclonic storm Montha crossed the coast off Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday, causing disruptions in the southern state, while the impact was also felt in neighbouring Odisha, where normal life was affected in 15 districts.
The landfall process started around 7 pm, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said, adding that the weather system in the Bay of Bengal will cross Andhra Pradesh coast between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam around Kakinada.

It will cross with a maximum sustained wind speed of 90 to 100 kmph and gusting up to 110 kmph.
