Coronavirus: Gujarat reports first death; India’s toll rises to seven

New Delhi, March 22, 2020: As India’s death toll rose to seven on Sunday, govt announced lockdown in 75 districts. With multiple new positive cases reported from various parts of the country, India’s tally stands currently at 348 as on March 22.

The Indian Railways suspended all passenger services, effective March 22 midnight. Delhi CM said that the capital may face lockdown if situation worsens. As Maharashtra remains the worst-affected in India, section 144 has been imposed in the state from Monday. Meanwhile, the PM urged people to follow Janta Curfew on March 22, and stay at home in order to combat coronavirus. Stay tuned for more updates.

"195 Kannadigas who were in Dubai today have been brought to Bangalore International Airport. Since 6 of them have symptoms of COVID-19, they have been admitted to the Rajiv Gandhi Chest Disease Institute’s isolated center in Bangalore. The remaining passengers have been taken to Akash Institute of Medical Sciences," Health Minister B Sriramulu said.

10 more persons, majority of them with foreign travel history, found COVID-19 positive in Maharashtra, taking the numbers to an alarming 74. This include six in Mumbai and four in Pune.
