In Telangana, the Congress has nominated two candidates — Abhishek Manu Singhvi and Vem Narender Reddy — despite having the numbers to elect only one, in a bid to attract support from legislators of other parties.

In Tamil Nadu, the party has named M Christopher Tilak as its candidate. Meanwhile, senior lawyer KTS Tulsi, a retiring Congress MP from Chhattisgarh, has not been re-nominated as the party lacks sufficient numbers to secure a second seat.
