New Delhi, Oct 15, 2026: Protesting against the jailing of Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka following their demonstration at Jantar Mantar, Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke has announced a ‘Lehra Do Tiranga’ (Unfurl the Tricolour) protest at Central Park in Connaught Place on Friday evening.

In a video posted on social media, Dipke, who arrived in Delhi from Maharashtra hours after Das and Ranka were remanded to five days of judicial custody, appealed to patriots and supporters of the national flag to gather at Central Park at 5 pm for the protest.

Das and Ranka, along with others, entered Jantar Mantar on Tuesday, despite it no longer being a designated protest site, and waved the Tricolour. They were detained and subsequently remanded to judicial custody by an executive magistrate before being taken to Tihar Jail.

Dipke said the CJP co-convenors had been jailed for “just waving the Tricolour” and asserted that the protest would send a message that displaying the national flag was not a crime.

He also urged people unable to travel to Delhi to organise Tricolour marches in their respective localities, saying such demonstrations would convey to those in power that unfurling the national flag was not a crime.

“Maybe I will also be put in jail. I am not bothered. The Tricolour is my pride and I will unfurl it,” he said.

Opposition leaders, including Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, have criticised the detention and jailing of Das and Ranka, asserting that waving the national flag cannot be treated as a crime.

Rahul Gandhi said students, youth, journalists and the INDIA bloc were united in demanding their constitutional rights. He also asserted that Jantar Mantar belonged to the people of India and said it must be reclaimed.

Mamata Banerjee described the action as an attempt to intimidate and silence an entire generation. Calling it unacceptable, she urged people not to surrender their constitutional rights.
